19 was most definitely a very lucky number for a number of key greeting card retailers at Wednesdays Retas Awards Presentation at the Dorchester Hotel, London as Woodmansterne’s table 19 played host to THREE award winners. The Retas are the only awards which celebrate greeting card retailing in the UK.
First up to collect the best greeting card retailer in East Anglia for 2014 were Jerry and Debbie Brown from First Class Greetings in Hadleigh. Then it was the turn of Simon and Debbie Pritchard from Bookends who collected the Woodmansterne sponsored Best Independent Bookstore in the country presented by Paul himself.
The hat trick was completed by Suzie Abel of Jarrolds Norwich who deservedly won Best Department Store. Jarrolds completed a £21m refit in late 2013 so it’s obviously paying off.
The Retas Awards were launched by Progressive Greetings magazine in 2005, in recognition of the tremendous contribution that retailers both large and small, make to the success of the greeting card industry. Now in their tenth year, The Retas are established as the summer event for the greeting card community. It brings together the entire greeting card industry for an afternoon of celebration.
The Retas recognise and celebrate not only the top independent and multiple greeting card retailers regionally and nationally, but also the new generation of retailers as well as employees of outstanding excellence.
